Former Supreme Court justice Priscilla Baltazar-Padilla passes away

Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Priscilla J. Baltazar-Padilla passed away on Friday, the SC announced on Twitter.

Baltazar-Padilla took her oath as an SC justice on July 16, 2020, taking over the seat vacated by retired Justice Andres Reyes Jr.

However, she retired on November 3, 2020 at 62 years old, eight years ahead of the mandatory retirement age for Philippine judges and justices.

Baltazar-Padilla also served as an associate justice of the Appeals Court from 2006 until her appointment to the SC.

Before the CA, she had served as a judge at the Manila regional and metropolitan trial courts.

Baltazar-Padilla also taught at the Lyceum of the Philippines, the New Era University, the Universidad de Manila, and the University of the East for more than 17 years, according to the SC Public Information Office.

She is also a lecturer in Mandatory Continuing Legal Education and a faculty member of the Philippine Judicial Academy. — DVM, GMA News
